Executioner No. 14 is a site-specific project created for the garret of Cross Club, a centre of alternative culture in Prague, Czech Republic. The performance is based upon a monodrama by a franco-egyptian playwright Adel Hakim. The main and only character is a man who survived civil war - and recounts his memories from before and during it. He does so in order to survive, not to forget, not to go mad. In a 70 minutes long stream of suggestive images of love and hatred, hope and despair, fear of a victim and ecstasy of a warrior, we follow up a harrowing metamorphosis of a usual, average man into a fighting machine. And with him, the corrosion and disintegration of the whole society, all moral standards and values, all the known world. What stays is pain, loneliness and vanity.

Opening night: 14th October 2011 in Cross club Prague

“Monodrama is always very difficult theater genre and it deserves an absolute belief in the text and in the actor. Here, the trust of Lucie Málková in Petr Semerád and Hakim’s text is fully rentable. Executioner no. 14 is an extraordinary adventure in killer’s mind.” read more
